News from the PTO

The PTO membership drive was a huge success both in terms of family and teacher/faculty members joining. At Johnson, 45% of families and 61% of teachers/faculty joined the PTO.  Mrs. Hargrave’s class was the winner of the ice cream party for most memberships from the class. Mrs. Rodes, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Pellegrin were runners up and will receive certificates soon. Membership was strong throughout the FSSD as well. Money earned will be pooled and a portion given back to fund Staff Appreciation Week. The recent Book Fair with its Monster theme was a success as well, generating money which will translate to points for the library to order books from Scholastic. Many teachers participated by making their wish lists. The theme for the Spring Book Fair will be Feeling Groovy. The Bake Sale held during Open House will help purchase needed supplies for the school. Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A was a success as well. Tiger Run is coming up on October 23rd. This year we are excited to have our own website to enter pledges. Money from pledges will fund additional Promethean Boards for the classrooms, iPads and more. The end date to get sponsors for the event is September 25th. An informational sheet went home in school folders about how sponsors can donate at $100, $250 and $500 amounts. Volunteers will be needed for Tiger Run and down the road for the Carnival, Staff Appreciation Week, Spring Book Fair and more. There are also volunteer opportunities for PE events and in the Art classes. Thanks to all who have jumpstarted the year through participation in PTO membership...
