Kindergarten Roundup Set for Friday, April 21

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION is online this year and parents may enroll students between April 1 – 30, 2017. However, we want all parents and rising kindergarten students to attend our annual Kindergarten Roundup, held on Friday, April 21. This is an important milestone for all parents and future kindergartners! This day is designed to provide families with a fun opportunity to hear more about the school, take a tour, turn in registration materials, and sign up for a kindergarten screening date. TNReady Testing Window April 17 – May 5

Next week, our students will begin taking the TNReady assessments in English Language Arts (ELA), Science, and Math and the field test in Social Studies. The testing window is April 17—May 5. FSSD 2017 TCAP/TNReady Testing Schedule The assessments for each subject will be administered over several days. Please see the information that was sent home from your school to learn more about your child’s grade level testing schedule. Jan Cochran served as principal of JES from 2005-2011 after many years as a teacher and assistant principal. JES Spelling Bee!

JES held its first annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, and it was a great success! Students in grades 1-4 participated and were cheered on by the entire school as well as many visitors. Third-grader Brooklyn Smith came out on top after 16 rounds of competition. Brooklyn will now have the opportunity to compete in the regional bee hosted by the Titans. Kory Stiles finished in second place and Devenee Ebrahimi rounded up the top three. Fine Arts Holiday Extravaganza

Dear JES Parents, On Tuesday, December 6, 2016 we will have our Holiday Fine Arts Extravaganza! Our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students have been hard at work rehearsing for the holiday music program, and we can’t wait to perform for you! Our performance will begin at 6pm and we need for all 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students to be in the multi-purpose room at 5:30pm on December 6th, dressed in their holiday best!             We will also be having a Winter Art Show that will serve as a fundraiser. All students will have a framed work of art on display for parents to purchase. These would make great gifts for family for the holidays! The art show will be from 4:30-5:30 and then for 30 minutes following the performance!             From 4:30-5:45pm and 30 minutes after the end of the music program, we will have a “pop-up” book fair with buy one – get one free books….perfect for Christmas presents! We hope to see you all there for this truly magical night!
